Our Story

Harrison & Lear, Inc., was formed by decorated combat veterans, Jefferson C. Harrison and Robert H. Lear, in September 1953. Our founders formed the company to meet postwar housing demands on the Peninsula and across the Hampton Roads area. Both then and now, the Hampton Roads real estate market requires imagination, vigor, and boldness to create vibrant communities and places. Over our wonderful 70+ year history, Harrison & Lear has matured to be a full-service, diversified real estate company. The depth and experience of our staff will continue to serve Harrison & Lear clients faithfully as we expand with the growth of Hampton Roads. 

In July 2021, Harrison & Lear rebranded the association management division and established Harrison & Lear Community Management (HLCM). In the early days, the leaders of HLCM identified a gap in the market. Associations lack the tailored support they need to truly excel and for members of the communities to live SIMPLE. The visionaries vowed to change this narrative. With a shared passion for community building, construction projects, capital improvements, and customer service, we set out to create a company that would redefine association management. We understood that every association is unique, requiring a personalized approach. By meticulously studying each client’s needs, we crafted innovative strategies that fostered member engagement, streamlined operations, and increased revenue. SIMPLE HOA LIVING was born!
